Weekly English classes, built around your child
Every class runs 1.5 hours a week in a group of no more than six, with all materials provided.

An experienced English educator who has taught hundreds of students across schools, tuition centres and private classes. Happy Quills is the small, warm classroom she always wanted to teach in.

Our home-based classroom sits a short walk from Pending LRT. Not nearby? The online class follows exactly the same lesson, live with Ms Umi.

Fees are a flat monthly rate. They exclude a one-time $30 registration fee and a $50 refundable deposit for new students.
About your teacher
Meet Ms Umi
I started Happy Quills because I kept meeting children who had been told they were "bad at English", when really, nobody had ever shown them the steps.
In a class of six, I can see exactly where a child gets stuck. We break the task into tiny steps until the blank page stops being scary, and then we build from there, week after week.

7 Things to Check Before You Choose a Tuition Class
Tick each one as you visit a class or talk to a teacher.
How many children are in each class?Ask for the exact number. At Happy Quills it is 6 at most.
What happens when my child doesn't get it?Ask how the teacher explains something a second and a third time.
How are mistakes treated?Your child should feel safe to try, get it wrong and try again.
Can my child move, take a break and be themselves?Ask whether children with ADHD or autism are welcome.
Does it follow the MOE syllabus, and how is the term planned?Ask for a clear plan from week to week.
What's included in the fees, and what costs extra?Ask about registration fees and deposits before you sign up.
Is anyone promising a grade?Be careful of big promises. Real progress is a child who is less afraid of English.
How did my child feel after the trial lesson?The best check is watching how your child feels after a real lesson.
